This is a blog about the small things that are never small.
Snack Drawer Anarchy is about humour, frustration, and insight. It’s about the tiny rebellions that don’t get credit, the labour that disappears, and the everyday decisions that reveal how power actually works.
“Snack Drawer Feminism” started as a joke on Reddit — women sharing stories about the lengths they had to go to to hide their snacks from their husbands and partners so they could actually enjoy them. If they didn’t, the snacks would disappear. If they said anything about it, they would hear:
“It’s just a snack, you can buy more.”
“You’re making a big deal about nothing.”
“I was hungry, am I not supposed to eat??”
On the surface it can be easily dismissed as a small thing but you don’t have to dig very deep to see how it’s also about invisible labour and planning, respect, and male entitlement.
Here I will use personal stories, reflections on pop culture and humour to unpack invisible labour, quiet resistance, and the systems that shape our lives — for better or worse (spoiler alert: it’s mostly worse).
